The Spokane Magic Club is a group of amateur and professional magicians and performers based in or near the city of Spokane, at the eastern edge of Washington State, USA. Spokane is the second-largest city in the state and home to over 210,000 people. The surrounding metropolitan area, with a population near a half-million people, extends into northern Idaho and offers a wide range of cultural, educational, recreational and travel opportunities. For more information about our area, check out the Spokane Visitors Bureau.

The club was first organized by Warren Kelsey just after the 1974 World's Fair held here in Spokane. Several local performers presented shows at Expo-74 and the idea of starting a club was born.

Informal meetings were held starting in late 1974 and by 1976 there were sufficient members to apply for official recognition as a local club or "Ring" of the International Brotherhood of Magicians (I.B.M.). Ten persons were named on the official organizing document as Charter Members. And, in year 2014, we celebrated our 40th year of continuous operation!

Membership is open to those seriously interested in the Art of Magic, in all its forms and varieties. Membership information for each group is listed below and further information may be obtained from club officers during any meeting.

Join the Spokane Magic Club

We encourage you to attend any of our monthly meetings for a month or two. If you enjoy our meetings and want to join us, club dues are $25.00 per year. Dues may be paid at any meeting. Membership runs for 12 months, including the month in which paid. Members whose dues are 60 days or more past due will be dropped from the Membership List. Club members receive reduced admission to lectures, access to the club's Video Library and other benefits.

The Video Library is available to all paid-up club members. A refundable deposit of $5.00 is required for each video. Members may check out up to 4 videos at one time. There are currently about 250 titles in the library, all in DVD format.

Members of the Spokane Magic Club are strongly urged to also be Active, Youth or Associate members of I.B.M. and maintain that membership in fully active and paid-up status.

Membership in the I.B.M. is granted in three different classes depending on age and type:

ACTIVE MEMBER: Must be at least 18 years of age and have had an interest in magic for at least two years.

YOUTH MEMBER: Must be at least 7 years of age and have an interest in magic for at least one year.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER: Must be a spouse or bonafide assistant of an Active Member, and be at least 18 years of age. Associate Members do NOT receive The Linking Ring magazine.

Membership dues and fees vary for each of these classes and depend on your choice of receiving The Linking Ring Magazine in printed or digital version, or none at all. Generally, the Youth Membership is $20 cheaper than full membership and Associate Membership is less still. There is a one-time charge of $15 to apply for membership the first year. For current rates in all membership classes, you may visit the International Brotherhood of Magicians web site at www.magician.org.
